Artist/Art Therapist Statement
As an artist my artwork is influenced through my personal experiences as a veteran and as a social justice advocate. My art practice integrates creativity along with intersectional identity to bring awareness to social & environmental issues. My artwork explores both the process and product of artmaking through a variety of media including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and papermaking.
As a Master's level mental health provider my therapeutic practice is an integrative theoretical approach that incorporates person-centered therapy, existential-informed, and feminist-informed models. I strive to create a therapeutic alliance that matches the client by developing a trusting relationship in order to best serve the client's needs.
-
Person-centered approach is applied to understand the client's worldview in order to develop a relationship that provides me with a narrative context of their experiences.
-
Existential-informed model provides a platform for investigation into what gives the cleint's life meaning.
-
Feminist-informed approach allows clients to gain insight into systems of power and oppression that may impact their quality of life.
